Kamino liquidity vaults vs manual LP vs a personal bot

A Kamino vault, a position you manage by hand, and a bot that runs positions for you all put concentrated liquidity to work on Solana, in structurally different ways.

If you are weighing Smart LP Bot as a Kamino alternative, here is the honest version, including where Kamino is the better answer.

The structural difference

With Kamino you deposit into an audited vault contract. The vault holds one shared position, rebalances it on a curator-defined strategy, and issues you a share token. Nobody touches your keys, and Kamino covers the gas for compounding.

With Smart LP Bot the position is yours. It sits in your own wallet, opened under your own address, with your own range and your own pool selection. To act on it around the clock the bot needs signing authority — so in automated mode it is custodial, and we say so on every page that matters.

Where Kamino is simply better. It is one of the largest protocols on Solana, audited, battle-tested at a scale we are nowhere near, and it never asks for signing authority. If not handing over keys is a hard requirement — and for many people it should be — that decides it, and no feature list on our side changes the answer.

Where a personal bot wins

Fees, compared properly

Kamino charges a performance fee on yield and absorbs the gas. We charge either 15% of collected LP fees, with nothing upfront, or a flat subscription (50 USDT for 30 days or 500 USDT for 365 days), and you pay your own gas — which on Solana is fractions of a cent per rebalance, so it rarely changes the arithmetic. The real difference is not the rate, it is that a flat subscription gets cheaper as your capital grows while a performance fee does not.

They are also not exclusive. Plenty of sense in parking core capital in a vault and running a bot on the part you want control over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kamino non-custodial?

Yes — Kamino's vaults are smart contracts and you keep your keys. Smart LP Bot is not, and we will not pretend otherwise: our bot signs transactions on your behalf in automated mode, which means it holds your key, encrypted with AWS KMS envelope encryption and with optional 2FA on money operations. You can instead connect an external wallet and sign each transaction yourself, but then the automation is off. If delegating signing is unacceptable to you, Kamino is the better fit.

Does Kamino charge a fee on liquidity vaults?

Yes — Kamino takes a performance fee on the yield its vaults generate and covers the gas for compounding. We charge 15% of collected LP fees, or a flat subscription of 50 USDT for 30 days or 500 USDT for 365 days, and you pay your own gas — cents per rebalance on Solana. A flat subscription becomes cheaper than a percentage as your capital grows; below that crossover, the percentage plan costs less.

Can I choose my own range and pools with Kamino?

Not directly — a Kamino vault runs a curator-defined strategy across all its depositors, which is what makes it simple. With a personal bot the range width and the pool selection are yours, and width is the single biggest lever on a concentrated position's return.

Can I use both Kamino and an LP bot?

Yes, and it is a reasonable split. Core capital in an audited vault where you keep your keys, and a smaller allocation run by a bot where you want to choose pools, widths and whether to hedge. They are not competing for the same dollar so much as for different risk appetites.

Let the bot handle it

Smart LP Bot manages concentrated liquidity positions on Orca and Raydium at the same time — rebalancing, fee collection and optional IL hedging, all from Telegram.
